Where to Propose in A private park, South Africa

How We Met

We met at a baseball club. He was there to support his cousin and i had been kicked off the team (I was terrible) but my brother and sister still played, so i was dragged along to every practice and game anyway.

I couldn’t stop looking at him and my friends noticed! So they ran up to him and asked if they could get his number for a friend. He asked “which friend”, so they pointed at me, he said “Yeah. Cool. Okay”, and gave them my number, 2 days later I worked up the nerve to message him and the rest is history.

How He Asked

Well we started dating back in 2010. I was 13 and he was 16. Although our families didn’t like how serious our relationship was for how young we were at the time, they couldn’t be any happier now. We’ve never been that “on again – off again” couple; “we love each other, so we’ll work through anything life throws at us. Any fight, disagreements, jealousy, anything.” We promised from day one. And we have kept that promise to each other for 7 years. On August 28th 2017, my 20th birthday, he took me out and spoiled me the whole day. He eventually took me to this little park he had been talking about for ages. We walked down to the river, sat on this huge tree that had fallen over and just spoke. “I have something I want to read to you” he said. Now I was thinking “what are you up to?” because we’re not book lovers, so what on earth did he want to read? He then pulled out this notebook that he had given me the year before for our 6-year anniversary. He had written in it every day for a year telling me what he loved most about me that day / how he was thinking about me that day. It was the most precious gift I had ever been given. He started reading from it and I just thought “Aww, this is cute. We’re reminiscing”, But then he read the first line. “Today I met with your sister. We started planning my proposal to you”. I immediately started crying. He read about 15 full pages to me in which he explained every step he had taken from that day until this one. All the ideas he had, all the plans that went wrong, until he decided that this is how he wanted to do it. Just him and I. No photographers or friends holding signs. Just the two of us. He then started his actual proposal, “I had to write this down. Because I have a lot of things I need to say to you and I know if I don’t read it to you, I won’t be able to get through this. So here it goes. Zoe…” and off he went. He had written a 2-page long proposal to me. It was beyond beautiful. It was so full of raw love, special promises and a few jokes. In the end, of course I said yes! The most beautiful part about it for me is that now I have his proposal, in his own words, forever. Wow, I love him.
