Amanda and Zachary
How We Met
Our love story all began at a retail store called Dillards about two and a half years ago. Zack and I were both sales associates working in different departments. I worked in Juniors and he worked in Mens big and tall. I remember the first time I saw Zack. I could tell instantly that he was a genuinely nice guy and there was something special about him. Unfortunately for him the first time Zack asked me out I turned him down. At that time I didn’t really know him and was not ready for dating, but he was persistent. After we had gotten to know each other better he asked me out again and this time I said yes. On our first date we went to see Planet of the Apes and afterwards we got some ice cream and talked for what seemed like hours. We instantly connected and have been together ever since.
How He Asked
Before the proposal story can be fully appreciated I have to first talk about one of my favorite memories during our relationship. The day before our six months December 16th 2014 Zack gave me a gift. He sat me down in his living room and said to me, “I told you that I would never give you a promise ring, but penguins present a pebble to their forever mate.” He then showed me this beautiful necklace with an infinity diamond in the center and continued to say, “This is my pebble to you and as long as this diamond moves I will love you.” The necklace he gave me was a promise that one day he would propose to me. Now fast forward exactly two years later. On December 16th 2016 Zack planned a trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina. The Biltmore was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. The house was filled with Christmas trees and breath taking Christmas decor. We toured the entire house and were having the best time adding to our memories together. We headed outside to the front lawn because Zack wanted to take a picture in front of the house. We found a very nice lady that was willing to take it for us. We were just about to get our picture taken when Zack said, “let me just tie my shoe real fast.” I looked down and noticed his shoes were already tied. He looked up at me and grabbed my hand. I was so confused and I said, “What are you doing?” He proceeded to say, “Two years ago on this exact day I made you a promise that I am ready to fulfill. Will you marry me?” And I of course said, “Yes.” Little did I know the proposal wasn’t the only surprise.
Zack’s little sister and my best friend came running out from behind a tree. I was so excited to see them both. I could not of imagined being proposed to without them being present. Zack even invited our entire families to meet us after the proposal. It was perfect in every way.
