Vlad and Hanna
How We Met
Vlad and I met in 2008 in Portland, OR. Our relationship started with us becoming best friends. Vlad and I talked every night on the phone and then Skype for about six years. Everyone kept telling me that I am in love with him, but I told myself that we were only friends. I couldn’t see myself being in a long distance relationship, little did I know. After six years or so something changed and I began to fall in love with Vlad. At that point I began to pray, if it was God’s will we would be together. On July 4, 2014, Vlad asked me to be his girlfriend and I said, “YES!” Our dating journey was not easy.
There were many bumps in the road, but that is what made our relationship stronger. We spend lots of hours at the airport saying, “Goodbye.” Shedding tears =, mostly me. It was tough and our faith was tested many times. But that is all behind because now we are getting married! On May 23, 2017, Vlad asked me to spend forever with him in the same location! And of course I said, “YES!” On June 2, 2018, me and Vlad will be tying the knot and I can’t wait! I won’t have to say “Goodbye” to him anymore. :)
How He Asked
I have been having car issues for some time. Every time I fixed one problem another problem showed up. I was frustrated and Vlad knew about it. So my sweet Vlad decided to make me happy and got me a new car. The only issue was that he got it in Washington and he had to get it to me. We decided that the best way would be if he drove the car down. We planned a time for him to drive the car down and I took some days off. Around the time he was supposed to come Vlad got himself a drone. He always wanted to get a drone, so when he got it he was super excited. When he finally arrived in Sacramento he was so excited about his new toy he couldn’t wait to show it off. He asked if I wanted to go down to San Francisco and take some cool pictures. I agreed. It was too hot in Sacramento and I didn’t mind escaping to the Bay.
When we finally arrived at our destination, Muir Beach, I realized that the weather was totally different. It was cold and I was in shorts and a t-shirt. Luckily, Vlad had an extra sweater, it helped to keep me some what warm. Then we went to the beach and walked around. The air was nice and the water was cold, but it was the perfect combination and I enjoyed it. We took a few silly pictures on the phone and then Vlad decided to take out his drone. Unfortunately, it was to windy and the drone did not want to work properly. Instantly, I saw Vlad’s mood changed. He asked me if I wanted to go to the overlook and try to fly the drone there. I agreed. On the way to the overlook we got lost but luckily a nice guy helped us out and we found our way to the overlook. When we got there Vlad took out the drone and it worked.
That was good new, but the weather was a lot colder. Vlad became excited again and asked if I wanted to go down to the overlook and I hesitated. It was cold and I wanted to stay by the car, but Vlad insisted. He grabbed my hand and started to walk really fast. As we were getting closer to the edge I started to see candles and flowers. I started to get confused and speechless. When we reached the edge Vlad said, “Hold the remote.” I looked at him with a blank face and asked, “Why?”
That is when he got down on one knee and asked me, “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” I started to giggle and asked a dumb question, “What are you doing?” lol He just looked at me and smiled and I started hugging him.
I think I stood there and hugged him for like five minutes. First, because I was so happy and speechless. Second, I was freezing cold and his hug was very warm. At some point in the hugging session Vlad whispered, “Is that a YES?” and I said, “YES!” That is also when I took a look at the ring and it was beautiful! I can’t wait to marry the love of my life!!
