Victoria and Zach

Victoria and Zach's Engagement in Lovers Key State Park, Bonita Springs, Florida

How We Met

We met on a dating app called “Coffee Meets Bagel” in the summer of 2016. We realized we both had attended and graduated from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia at the same time. We joke that Zach had to move a thousand miles to meet me!

Zach was new to South Florida and asked me if I would be his tour guide – so our first date was set at Kapow Noodle Bar in Boca Raton, Florida. After a few weeks of getting to know each other, we knew we only wanted to keep spending more time together, so he asked me to be his girlfriend.

It didn’t take long until we both knew we wanted it to be forever.

How He Asked

We love having adventures, taking road trips and doing crafts. Zach planned the most perfect day on January 6, 2018. The theme was: “things we always talk about doing, but haven’t done yet.” The day was romantic, relaxing and FUN!

The day started early when I showed up at Zach’s house. We drove to the beach for Surprise #1 – the sunrise! We enjoyed a nice walk along the water as the sun rose above the horizon. Then it was on to Surprise #2 – breakfast at a crepe cafe.

After that, we headed back to his house for Surprise #3 – we made PAPER! I love stationary and all things paper, so Zach figured out the supplies needed to make our own. While I finished up that project, Zach started to make Surprise #4 – candles with a unique fragrance (which now reminds us of our engagement whenever we smell the scent!).

Zach had homemade dough waiting in the fridge for Surprise #5 – making pizza (which was a throwback to one of our first memories together). Then Zach told me to take it to go for Surprise #6 – we’re headed to the West Coast of Florida for the sunset!

When we arrived in Bonita Springs and headed to Lovers Key State Park. It was perfect weather, so we were able to walk for a few hours and enjoy the trails along the water. Zach found a bench overlooking the sunset, and as soon as the sun was setting he gave me Surprise #7 – he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

And of course – I said YES!

(It was a really intimate moment, so we took only one photo together before the sun set – note the happy tears. Our photographers took engagement photos a few weeks later. Also, we entered a contest and our proposal was selected as the most original, interesting and enthralling story… so we won a FREE Rehearsal Dinner at a resort in South Florida!)
