Venus and Thien
How We Met
We met at a high school football game. From the beginning, we became the bestest of friends. He quickly began to learn about the things that made me mad, I learned about the things that made him laugh. He was there through the painful things in my life, and I was there to see his best achievements. However, sparks didn’t fly until 6 years later, in our last year of college. It was then, I realized that he was the one all along. He had always been the one. The one to make me the best version of myself, the one who encouraged me to be more than what I was, the one who made me love my life and love myself. He saw my worth and made me realize how love was truly supposed to be. No one could ever replace the warmth of his love in my heart and the grace of his gentle soul in my life. I know it’s cliché, but I honestly, truly, and entirely fell in love with my best friend.
How He Asked
After 6 years of friendship, and an additional 3 years of dating, we started a long distance relationship. He had found a job opportunity in another state. Long distance usually breaks relationships apart, but it feud the flames in ours. I learned to love him more than I did when we were together everyday. I learned to miss him more than I’ve ever known how to. It was hard, but it made us realize that we didn’t want to do anything in the world without each other. After a year of long distance, he came back home and planned a romantic kayaking getaway to Turnip Rock, MI. He had invited all my siblings to go before us to surprise me and capture the whole proposal. After many miles of kayaking, we got on this amazing cliff. He let me go to the tip of the cliff first. After admiring the beautiful view, I turned around, and there was the man of my dreams, on one leg, asking me to be his for forever. I don’t know what I did to deserve such a beautiful person in my life but I am completely happy that he chose me. After I said yes, my siblings were screaming tears of joys, which made the memory a perfect one in my life.
