Tsehaia and Quinn
How We Met
Quinn and I met in high school at a mutual friends sweet 16 birthday party! I remember being there dancing with my friends and my friend who was the birthday girl coming up to me sharing that she had someone that I had to meet! We both walked over to my now fiance’ and she introduced us. His response is one that I will never forget saying, “That’s a cool name, but I have no idea how I am supposed to remember or spell that name”.
I stated that it was okay and that I usually get that, but it was nice to meet him. Little did I know we would meet back up three months later as he was a new student at my high school. Once I saw him at school I knew that I wanted to be his friend and told him that we would become best friends like peanut butter and jelly.
How He Asked
Friday, May 18, 2018, turned out to be the best day of my life! That morning, Quinn myself and our families went and toured a Kona coffee plantation. While there we were able to tour the farm, see how coffee beans go through their process and even sample coffee. It was amazing! Once we finished up there we went and explored Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park. While there exploring Quinn’s brother and cousin was out on lava rocks checking out the ocean and gorgeous views. Quinn, his sister and I decided to walk out there to meet them and see what they were looking at.
Once we made it out there Quinn’s sister mentioned that Quinn and I should reenact the famous Titanic pose. I was hesitant since it is not like Titanic is our favorite movie or anything, but I assumed the position willingly with my arms spread wide. I felt Quinn holding my waist and then shortly after I heard his sister shout, “Okay Tsehaia I got the photo you can turn around now!”.
When I heard her say that, I turned around and to my surprise, Quinn was down on one knee gazing up at me asking me to be his wife!! I was in complete shock and did not see that coming at all and screamed in response, “Of Course!”. Simultaneously his sister was snapping away photos to capture this amazing moment.
