Torie and Josh
How We Met
2012 – First month of dating Josh and I met when I first moved to a small town in Arkansas, from California. I was in eighth grade, he was in ninth. We were “boyfriend and girlfriend” for just a few weeks. We remained good friends for many years. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school that we took a chance on us. From the get go, the two of us were inseparable. We were young, but we were falling in love. Best friends above anything else. We knew each other better than anyone else. He’s my support system, rock, and greatest love. We’ve been through so much together, the highest of highs and lowest of lows. College, buying a house, careers. All there for each other. I couldn’t imagine life without him.
How He Asked
I found a guy that feeds my obsessions (Christmas and San Francisco Giants) and recognizes my love for my family. I’ve always been a sucker for super romantic gestures. Josh, on the hand, doesn’t really care for that sort of stuff. With that being said, I never expected a fairy-tale proposal. December 29th, 2016, 4 years and 9 months of being “us.” We were visiting my family in California for Christmas. My dad decided to take us to eat at the Cheesecake Factory in San Francisco before we left. We arrived early for our “reservation” (which ended up just being the story to get me to go), so we went to Union Square to check out the huge and beautifully decorated Christmas tree. We all were taking pictures together in front of it. It was just Josh and I taking pictures; when the next thing I know, he’s on one knee asking me to be his wife!
Was this real life? My family, San Francisco, Christmas, and Josh.. all at the same time! My excitement was through the roof. I still haven’t stopped smiling, waiting for the day I get to become this great man’s wife.
