Tiffany and David

How We Met

David and I actually met back in 2003 or 2004 in an online game. I was living in Maine, he was living in Missouri and we formed an instant friendship. That friendship spanned the years, and he even came out to Oregon to meet in person when I moved there. But fate was not on our side yet for romance. Then in 2009 I moved from Virgina back to Maine and started anew. We had never lost touch, always e-mailing to chat and catch up like any friends would. He came to Maine soon after to visit, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be yet. But then in 2013, after losing touch, I reached out to him and after talking, he came back to Maine. The stars aligned for that trip, and the rest has been history! I went out to Missouri a few months later to visit, and we decided I would make the move. In December I would lose my grandmother, and in February I made the move to Missouri. It was one of the best decisions of my life, and we have been moving forward and loving life every step of the way since.

How He Asked

In October of 2015, David told me he had to fly to Texas for work and would be there a few days. It sucked, cause I don’t like being home alone, but it was ok. The next day, I got a call from my best friend in Maine that she really wanted me there for Halloween and had managed to get enough money together and I had a ticket for the next day! This lead to a scramble to find a ride to the airport and someone to take care of our animals! Thankfully our friends here in Missouri came through and I was set to go! Well, it had been a long day of flights, including a run through the Chicago airport to make a ten minute layover! That done, I was on the last leg of my trip, and landed in Maine a little after 9pm. Exhausted and just ready to drive to my best friends house and crash. She met me at the escalator, took my bag and laptop and led me to a seating area. I didn’t think anything of it, figured maybe her mom was sitting there waiting for me to get there. Well, her mom was there, but so was my whole family! After looking around very confused, I then see David, sitting and looking very nervous. Again, I’m still trying to figure out what was going on! He comes up to me and hugs me, and I’m thinking he surprised me in Maine so we could visit my family together. That was kind of the case. Before I knew what was happening, he was done on one knee and asking me to marry him! I am at the point shaking like a leaf and in complete shock! But of course I said yes, he was my best friend and the missing piece to my life. So what happened to his work trip to Texas? Never existed! He flew to Maine to ask my dad if he could marry me! I was floored! He hadn’t met my dad before calling him and inviting him for lunch to ask. Plus he got my grandmothers engagement ring to propose to me with. We were married on April 8th, 2017 surrounded by friends and family! There was even family from Germany who made the trip to help us celebrate.
