Tiffany and Colin's Engagement in Sombrero Reef, Marathon FL Keys

How We Met

We actually met by mixing up our matching white Jeep Cherokees in a Publix parking lot. I had unlocked my car from across the lot and Colin had mistaken it for his, and was loading his groceries into it. After what seemed like an eternity of confusion and even a minor disagreement, I hit the lock button on my keys and my horn sounded, proving it was indeed my Jeep. I quickly tried to break the silence by nervously joking that he could leave his groceries and I would take them home. Colin’s response? – “Only if you’re going to make me dinner with them”. After two weeks of texting we had our first date which consisted of me making him dinner at my place.

How He Asked

My favorite place in the World is Sombrero Reef in Marathon (FL Keys) and I had the nautical coordinates for it tattooed on my left wrist. Last July, Colin and I drove down to the Keys for the weekend and got up early to go snorkel the reef. When we got there we were the only boat on the reef which is extremely rare for a Saturday. I was distracted watching a sea turtle while Colin tried to lure me to the back of our boat to get into the water. After a few attempts he finally came to the front of the boat where I was sitting, held my arm, and guided me to the back. While we were making our way to the back of the boat he said, “I lied to you, I don’t want to snorkel”. At that moment I knew and just lost it. The best part? He had our GoPro set up on the center console and caught the whole thing on video!
