Terron and Kelli

How We Met

Well we met on tinder. Chatted for about a week before Valentine’s day. She invited me and my friends to come over to meet her and her friends but that fell through. Which was a good thing because I was wanting more one on one for our first date. So we planned for the next weekend.

Met up at a nice Cuban restaurant where we talked for hours til the place closed. Me trying to be conservative was thinking the night was over so I asked her if she wanted me to take her home. She looked at me, smiled and said I’m not really ready to go home.

So I took her to one of my favorite bars. Had a few drinks. Ended up playing bocce ball vs some random drunk girls and had a blast.

But it was perfect. Although we walked all over God’s green earth to find it .It was actually very close to the parking and because it’s off the beaten path it wouldn’t be any people blocking the shot or a line on the deck to get a picture.

The week of her parents said they want3d to be a part of this as well. Like I said she wanted private thing though…. But we made a compromise. AFTER the actual proposal, IF she said yes, we would have a small dinner party. Well her family doesn’t do small so they rented out the clubhouse in my building at set up a surprise party for her as we walked home!

I was worried about weather, crowds, her not wanting to be in a movie but Every thing went perfectly. And she loved every part of it!

So I’ve always been a hopeless romantic. And I love having keepsakes and things to remember the moments and adventures we share together. But I knew she wouldn’t want a big thing with a lot of people watching and recording. Which meant I had to come up with a way to capture this grand gesture moment yet have it private an intimate.

A friend of mines, Artemus Jenkins, does a lot of documentaries. So I asked him for a solution. Maybe a hidden camera, or something like that. He comes up with this ingenious idea. He’s been wanting to do something on love and relationships. So why not film a doc on us and have me proposed while filming!

It was perfect. Now for location. Again, it had to be BIG yet private… I thought about maybe the rooftop pool of our apartment. It has a great view of the city. But then as I was looking at places another friend of mines posted a picture of this random lookout deck overlooking the river that no one knows about. I text her and asked where it was and she just said Indian trail…. Sounds easy enough so I didn’t think to ask for specifics .But since this had to go off without a hitch I had the foresight to go check it out before we did this ..and thank God I did… It took 3 days of hiking six miles of trail to find this random deck.
