Taylor and Kurtis
How We Met
My college roommate when to high school with Kurtis and introduced us one night before the Spring semester. Of course it was that super awkward first encounter starting with him telling me I had too many headbands in my jar of headbands! Well he knew I was going to be starting a class with someone I had a past with and he didn’t want me to be alone. He switched out of his one class to be in mine and we started talking more and more.
We went through A LOT in the first 6 months, more than couples go through in four years. We just became stronger in those months. He went to grad school for two years (long distance) and has now received a dream job five hours away. I cannot move because I just opened a bridal boutique in my home town. It has been tougher than nails being away from each other but our love has grown so much and we have so much trust for one another and our communication is better than ever.
How He Asked
Kurtis and I have been dating for over four years so it was only time before he proposed. We went on a family vacation in Florida with my ENTIRE family. We do it every year and it is a perfect time to get away and relax. We always do family pictures so it was just another typical picture day in Florida. We walked down the stairs to the beach and it was our turn to do our couple picture. After taking a few pictures, Kurtis said “one more picture”, he got down on one knee and said “Taylor Irene I love you with all my heart and there is nothing more that I want than to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”
I was shocked this was actually taking place so I grabbed his face and give him a huge kiss.
I starred at the gorgeous ring while it was going on my ring finger. At this point I realized I failed to answer his question so I told him yes and gave him a huge hug.
My family has always been a big part of my life so it was always a dream to have them during a big part of my life. We finished family pictures with everyone constantly smiling. It was a vacation that will NEVER be forgotten.
