Taylor and Joey
How We Met
Joey and I met in the spring of 2006. He added me on MySpace and immediately sent me a message. After several conversations back and forth, Joey asked to meet in person. I was extremely anxious but my friends agreed to come with me! At the very last second, I chickened out and told them to keep driving. When we drove past, we saw Joey standing out front. He was smiling so big and was waving at us. I was overruled and my friends made the decision to turn around. Thankful that they did, but not so thankful for this next part. As soon as I got out of the car, I slipped in mud. Luckily, Joey got a good laugh and was so excited to finally meet! Days went by and Joey and I were inseparable. On April 6th 2006, Joey asked me to be his girlfriend! I was ecstatic! We became best friends instantly. From the moment I met him, I knew he was the one and the rest is history!
How He Asked
Fast forward through high school, college and now on to adulting. During the fall of 2015, Joey would slowly start talking about marriage. He would show me pictures or suggest I start a Pinterest board. I tried to keep calm and responded very nonchalantly. We knew we wanted to get engaged before the end of the year. October came and so did the arrival of our first niece, Addison! Then came Halloween and soon after Thanksgiving. Weeks leading up to the proposal, both my family and a few of my closest friends were actively and secretly planning details.
On Saturday November 28th, 2015, Joey and I had plans to take family Christmas photos. After pictures, we had reservations to go out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants. Joey accidentally left his wallet at home, so we had to stop and grab it. When we arrived at the house, I noticed he was really excited for Mexican food. Half of me was nervous and the other half was nauseous. As we walked through the front door, I could hear lots of noise coming from the den and then it got silent. I peeked my head around the entry way and I could see balloons. At that very moment, I looked down and saw something in Joey’s pocket. Before I could think twice, Joey was down on one knee. I couldn’t tell you what he said, but I do know that it was short, sweet and I said yes! The moment that I had been waiting for all my life was finally here! And it couldn’t have been a more perfect proposal. We were surrounded by our friends and family who have continued to shower us with love and support over the last 10 years.
I would like to thank everyone for their effort in hosting our engagement party as well as those who came out and celebrated with us. We are forever grateful to have the opportunity to share one of the best days of our lives! #fineille
