Taylor and Heath

How We Met

Heath and I met at Walter State Community College. We lost touch for a couple years, and we both dated other people. About 2 1/2 years ago, our paths crossed again. Immediately we were attached at the hip, and head over heels for each other.

How He Asked

August 28, my birthday, little did I know it would turn out to be the biggest day of my life thus far. My family, his family, and some of our closest friends were all at my parents home for my birthday cookout. I knew that my fiancé had been planning a big surprise, however I did not know just how big it would be. He had told me that him and his brother-in-law were working on an antique gift for me. I am a 3rd grade teacher, I eat, sleep, and breathe my job. That being said of course he tied my two most treasured things together him and my career. After everyone had ate, he told me he was ready for me to go and open my gift. Of course, I was excited I had no clue what it was. As I sat down and began opening the gifts (it was 3 parts). I pulled out a piece of wood that was engraved Miss Fritz. I loved it!! Then it was time for this big HUGE box. Heath and his brother-in-law, pulled the huge box off. Under the box was a school desk that belonged to his great-great grandmother. He had refurbished the desk! I was in love, because I wanted one so bad for my classroom. As I looked I noticed there was another wood carving, and this one said “Marry Me?”. I burst into tears as he dropped to one knee! The caring, thoughtful, loving man I am now honored to call my fiancé was proposing!!! Once I said yes, and the ring of my dreams was on my finger I received another wood carving this one engraved Mrs. Johnson, my new last name!!
