Talor and Luis
How We Met
We were both 16 and I had just happened to move in next door to him. We had met before, but were never really super close. One day there was a fire about 5 minutes from our house and we were messaging each other on Facebook. One thing led to another and we decided to hang out. We became best friends and hung out almost every day. After all, we did live next door to each other. Months went by and we were getting closer. We definitely liked each other and we soon began dating. After a year and a half of dating I had to move from our hometown of San Antonio to Austin. We were devastated, but we knew that we wanted to stay together. By this time we were 18 and I had just graduated from high school. That summer of 2013 was a long one as we were adjusting to being apart and doing this long-distance thing. We had our ups and downs, but eventually we got the hang of it. We’ve been doing long distance for almost 3 years now! It’s been tough, but we try to see each other every weekend. Now we are about to finish college and we are happier than ever.
How He Asked
I am obsessed with taking pictures because I love to have memories stored forever. I am also in love with city skylines and Austin’s happens to be my favorite. I have a good friend, Drew, who is a photographer and she had been wanting to do a photoshoot with me and Luis for a while. We finally got it all figured out and were ready to go. We decided to go to the Long Center because I had always wanted to go since it has a beautiful view of the ATX skyline. I thought that would be perfect to get some cool pictures. Apparently, Luis also thought it would be perfect to get some pictures of our proposal as well. He had already talked to my parents and figured things out with Drew too. He planned it so well because it was everything I loved in one. I had absolutely no idea. We were taking some fun pictures and Drew told us to look at each other and hold hands. We were looking at each other and Luis says, “You’re beautiful, I love you so much.” All of a sudden he looks down at my hand and starts taking off the ring on my ring finger (our promise ring he gave to me in 2012) and he says, “You won’t be needing this anymore.” I’m thinking to myself what? no way….then he gets down on one knee and says, “Will you marry me?” I was SO shocked!!! I definitely said yes and I couldn’t be happier. :)
