Sydney and Austin
How We Met
Austin and I had lived 10 miles apart ever since we were little. Our brothers were childhood friends, but we never really talked. Then I moved away until my junior year of high school (his senior year). We connected at our church and then the rest was history. :)
How He Asked
My guy proposed to me on the day after Christmas 2015. He popped the question during a photo shoot! My mom and I are photographers, so this was not out of the ordinary at all. I had no idea what the real reason of this photo shoot was. :) Since I was in the dark most of this story, our proposal story is written by my fiance, Austin.
I woke up on that frosty cold bitter Saturday morning to meet who is now my fiancé for a photo shoot around town. We arrived at our first location and the air was so bitter cold it was like someone slapping you in the face, but to me that didn’t matter because my mind was racing 1,000mph about what ifs and what could go wrong. There was adrenaline running through my veins and at one point I’m pretty sure I lost all focus of what was going on around me. Needless to say, I was very nervous about what was about to happen. We posed for the first few shots and then strolled down a few feet to the light posts in between two large buildings.
Once we arrived at the light posts we took a few more shots standing up next to one and then the time came. Her mother was taking the pictures so I made a remark about my hair being out of place to give her a cue to get the camera ready to take a photo of the proposal. We then sat down for a few more shots next to the cold and frigid lamp post. After she stood up, I slowly got up on one knee as she is trying to pose me for the next shot. Once she realizes that I am on one knee she freezes and her mouth drops and she hides behind the lamppost to hide her reaction to what I might ask next. She stares at me, and I stare back mouth wide open. I then ask the question that would change my life forever “Will you marry me?”She said yes! I am very happy to announce that I will be spending the rest of my life with the person I love the most and the person who supports me through everything, Sydney!
Sydney again. :) The first four pictures are when I had no clue what was going on. Then he gets up from the piture of us sitting by the lamp post…and everything changed! He did not have a ring, he wanted me to pick it out since I would have it for the rest of my life. So the last two photos are from when we went out later that day to pick out the ring. :)
