Style Bloggers Share their Proposals & Engagement Rings

If you’re like us, you follow certain blogs religiously – not just wedding blogs – but style blogs too. We can’t help but go straight to the hand while scrolling through the photos of our favorite style bloggers and we’ve come across some amazing rings because of it.

Below, we’ve put together the proposal stories and engagement rings of six pretty fab women (spoiler: there’s a really, really cute french bulldog down there too…).
Liz Schneider of Sequins and Stripes
How we met: Dave and I met through a mutual friend in Chicago. Dave had just moved to the city and helped my friend and I move. We’ve been together ever since!

How he asked: Our first date was over a few beers and hours of conversation in the back booth at this dive bar called Glascott’s here in Chicago. He proposed almost 4 years later in that exact same booth on a random Wednesday. I was totally surprised!

Kendall Johnson of Styled Snapshots
How we met: We both attended the University of Delaware, and although our fraternity and sorority often socialized, we never actually met until a mutual friend’s 21st birthday’s party during our winter session at school our junior year. We spent the entire night chatting (he may or may not have snuck me into the bar) and the rest is history!

How he asked: It was Mother’s Day weekend, and we were heading to Grand Central in NYC to meet his parents to go to this little bar I have been always wanting to try, called Campbell’s Apartment. After “pretending” his parents were lost within the station and we had to meet them in the middle, the next thing I remember is him getting me to turn and look at the information board and it reading “Kendall, will you marry me?”. I turn back around and he in down on one knee in the middle of Grand Central. To make things even more fairy tale, he surprised me with having my parents come up and be waiting for us at the bar and then when I thought it was just our family going out to dinner he surprised me yet again with all of our best friends (even from out of town) and rented the downstairs of my favorite restaurant to celebrate! Total keeper :)

Caitlin Lindquist of A Little Dash of Darling
Caitlin Ben FEp2-0017How We Met: Ben and I met briefly through a mutual friend in Park City, Utah, but our jobs took us on opposite sides of the world shortly thereafter… until fate stepped in.

Both of us moved back to Utah in early 2008 and happened to enroll in the same class in preparation for graduate school. It was love at first re-sight. Ben took me out that first night after class and we have been together every day since.

How He Asked: Ben and I both decided law school was a better fit for us and with acceptance to several of the same schools, we decided to leap into our future together in San Diego.

During our first year of law school’s spring break, Ben took me to Maui. We woke early one morning for a hike to five beautiful waterfalls.

Once we reached the largest of the five waterfalls, Ben led me to stand beneath it and stood on a bended knee.  Before he could even begin uttering the words he had practiced, I began to cry and the rest is fairytale history.

About the ring: It’s a cushion cut diamond embraced by a double halo of princess cuts designed by my husband, Ben Lindquist, and created by OC Tanner, a Salt Lake City-based jeweler.

Jen Ramos of Made By Girl
How we met: My husband & I met at work, he wasn’t even my type at first. He was super shy to talk to me and had only seen my a few times. When he got the courage to talk to me, he froze.

How he asked: He asked over breakfast actually. We had been together for about 11 years at that point. Then one day during a breakfast he made me, he included a notecard next the food that said, “I don’t want to wake a single morning without you beside me” – I smiled and told him it was so sweet.

I then continued to eat my eggs, and he said” Turn the card around”

When I did, it said ” Will you marry me?”. It wasn’t over the top, but simple and romantic.

Maegan of Love Maegan
How he asked: For my 30th b-day {back in 2006}, my husband and I rented out Skateland roller rink in Northridge, a stomping ground, or shall I say skating ground we both frequented in the real ’80s, and threw and 80′s themed roller disco. It was hilariously amazing and totally awesome! This was one of my most memorable birthdays because during the hokey-pokey, while I was standing in the middle of a circle of our friends, turning myself around, my then boyfriend/now husband wobbly rolled in towards me on one knee and proposed.

The ring: The center stone is a 3 karat rectangle cushion cut light pink/peach Morganite, which was discovered and named after financier J. P. Morgan by Tiffany’s chief gemologist in the early 1900s. I chose a Morganite because I could really get more bang for my buck, so to speak, and I love the soft peachy pink hue. It’s set entirely in platinum {as is my wedding band} and completely surrounded by micro-pave — tiny round cut diamonds all the way around the band and along each side! It was created by  celebrity jewelry designer Cynthia Wolff.

Erika of Fashion Chalet
How we met: We met online (match.com) and I never thought it would work. I was lonely and wanted to meet a friend to hang out with – a guy who I could talk to and just have fun with. I wasn’t thinking about marriage really. Then, a few days after signing up, HE found and messaged me. Of course I responded.

How he asked: 1 year later… he asked me in a book. We were writing sweet notes back and forth, then they turned into questions (will you promise to love me forever, etc. etc.) and then he finally took one whole page and wrote in all caps WILL YOU MARRY ME? I teared up and said yes, while he went down on bended knee and popped out the most beautiful ring I had ever seen!
