Lauren and Adam's Stunning Proposal at the Orpheum

Our year anniversary is this month (October) and going to see The Phantom of the Opera (my favorite musical) at the Orpheum in Memphis was my gift!  We decided to dress up and go all out, why not!? The day couldn’t come soon enough and when it did I was ecstatic! We finally arrived and when we got to our seats, a lady arrived and gave us a letter that said congratulations… The letter was from the phantom saying we won a tour of the stage after the show! I was crying with excitement.

The show was amazing and we raced down to the orchestra to meet our tour guide. As we started the tour, I was completely in awe to touch the sets and just amazed to be on stage. The stage manager asked to take our picture in front of the chandelier so we made our way to the middle of the stage.

As I’m standing there looking out into the audience, soaking it all in, Adam comes up next to me to say that winning the backstage tour was not by chance and neither was meeting me. He got on one knee and said, “Lauren Alinee, will you marry me?” Everyone comes out from behind the scenes clapping and a photographer too! I’m crying and shaking at this point.

I was so excited and overwhelmed. Adam mentions to me that I probably want to smile for the photographer and that I might know her.  At first, I didn’t recognize who the photographer was from behind the camera. Little did I know that it was my sister who flew in that morning from Chicago!  I couldn’t help but cry even harder when I saw that it was her!  The main characters of the play (Christine, Raoul, and the Phantom) all came up to us afterward to congratulate us.  We even got to take a photo with them.  After taking more photos, we met my parents at The Cheesecake Corner downtown.  It was so perfect and more than I could have ever imagined. I’m just so happy and lucky to have Adam and such an amazing family! I can’t wait to marry the man of my dreams!
