Engagement Proposal Ideas in The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France

How We Met

September 17, 2017, was a big day for Steeler fans as it was the 2017-2018 season home opener in Pittsburgh! Of course, my friends and I were going down to the North Shore to tailgate and watch the game at one of the bars! After tailgating, we decided to meet some friends at the popular bar, McFadden’s! I personally didn’t want to go because I had other friends at a different bar but decided to stop at this bar for a beer before heading elsewhere. At McFadden’s, we met up with some friends from IUP who also brought one of their friends from home, Dustyn.

Where to Propose in The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France

Our group from IUP is really close friends so I was wondering why I never met this, Dustyn guy before. I later found out that Dustyn was in PA school at the University of Pittsburgh and had clinical many weekends which didn’t allow him to go out on the weekends. After a few beers, a couple of our friends decided to dance on the bar (this is a normal thing I swear!). Once we were done, Dustyn offered to buy me a bucket of Bud Lights, the McFadden’sGame Day beer special. Dustyn complimented me on my dance skills, which are horrible and we got to know each other. From that point on was history! We went on a date two days later to see the popular movie “IT”. You know its love at first sight when you hate scary movies but go to see one anyway. From that day on we were inseparable and spent every day together.

How He Asked

A random day in July my family came down to my house in Mount Washington to help do a few things. My dad said he was going to head to Rivers Casino while my mom, grandma and sister helped me clean! Dustyn tagged along with my dad to do a little gambling. After a few double rum and cokes and losing a few hands of 3 card poker they decided to come back. On the ride home, Dustyn asked my dad for his blessing. If you know my dad, he’s not one to be serious. He replied back to Dustyn, “Now why would you want to that”. After joking for a bit ultimately said he would love him to be part of our family.

I have a heart for traveling which spread to Dustyn when we started dating. Over the last year, we went on lots of vacations including a trip to Dublin, Ireland with my best friend, Jenna and her husband, Drew! We had such an amazing time we decided to go on another euro trip to Paris & Amsterdam (thank you WOW Air for the super cheap flights!) in late September, just so happening being during Dustyn’s birthday. Before going on the trip everyone asked if I thought it was going to happen. I honestly didn’t know because we had a trip planned to visit his sister in LA & both of our families were going to NYC in November, so I thought it might happen then. While traveling to Paris, Dustyn was throwing around his book bag, leaving it in the overhead compartment and wasn’t acting weird at all! I remember kept thinking to myself there is no way there is a ring in there!!

The first day we arrived in Paris we had planned to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower. This has always been on my bucket list! I thought if it was ever going to happen on this trip it would happen then. While getting ready, I even asked Dustyn to put on his nice button down shirt (LOL). We went to the tippy top of the Eiffel Tower & sipped champagne as we looked out to the city. It was so perfect and beautiful. We then decided to go down and even walked from the second level to the bottom…. and nothing. Later that day at dinner while Dustyn was in the bathroom I even said to Jenna and Drew, I’m bummed it didn’t happen. They were talking me down saying we are going on other trips and not to get my hopes up this trip. I believed them and didn’t think about it the rest of the time.

The next day, we decided to explore the area of Paris where we were staying at. We walked all around, went shopping and ended up at the Louvre. We took lots of pictures then decided to head to our On/Off Bus tour we had scheduled. We jumped on and went all around Paris. After about an hour on the bus, we decided to get off and get some food. The day before we didn’t get any pictures outside the Eiffel Tower so I recommended stopping there. We stopped at the Eiffel Tower stop and took lots of pictures on the stairs looking out at the Eiffel Tower. Dustyn is the best photographer and doesn’t get angry when I ask him to take a million pictures of me. I was being super extra and asked him to take a picture of me looking at the Eiffel Tower.

Normally Dustyn will tell me when he’s done taking the picture. I was standing there and remembering what is taking him so long! So I turned around… and there he was… on ONE KNEE! I legit think I had a heart attack! I was crying and dying inside. After being in shock for about two minutes I put on the ring and agreed to spend forever with my best friend. After we took a few pictures as an engaged couple we decided to go in front of the Eiffel Tower and take a few more pictures.

If you ever been to Champ de Mars you know how they have people going around selling champagne. We bought a bottle to pop open and celebrate. One bottle led to another as we called our family and closest friends to tell them the good news! We spent the next four hours sitting and drinking just thinking how lucky I was to spend forever with my best friend. <3
