Simone and Evan
How We Met
Our love story is quite a simple one, but every detail of it is beyond beautiful. I will never forget the first time I laid eyes on Evan. We were both freshman in high school at the time; around 8 years ago to be exact. It was a hot, hot August day; this is south Louisiana we are talking about here. Football practice was happening on the plush green field behind campus. It just so happened that this was where my pep squad team was taking our pictures. His helmet came off as he turned towards me. I caught his sea green eyes, and he caught mine. At that moment, I knew he was going to make a statement in my life, someway or somehow. Love at first site? Maybe. At that time we started to become friends, and by sophomore year, our relationship blossomed into a love that was indestructible and irresistible. I would have never dreamed that my first boyfriend would one day become my husband, and most of all, my best friend. Call it young love, call it cliche; or maybe a tad bit original. For me, it is our fairytale. It is what makes my world go round. Sometimes, I like to think it’s the simple kind of love that makes the best story. Our love story is real, and it is everything I could have ever dreamed of.
How He Asked
Evan and I had planned a trip to Breckenridge back in July with our friends. We were so excited to ski and had not been since we were young. December 13th, what a day I will never forget. It was our last day of skiing. The crew headed out on the mountain and we were beyond exhausted. Evan decided he wanted to do one more run down his favorite peak, Peak 9 was the exact location with an altitude of 11,554 feet. I, of course, decided to go with him. On the way up, while on the lift he says to me, “I don’t think you will ever understand how much I love you”. After telling him the same, he said, “Let’s take a picture as soon as we get off the lift. It is such an awesome view.” Boy was it ever. We turned off the lift and he asked the mountain host to take a picture. I thought nothing of it. He proceeded to hand back the phone to him when Evan said, “Can you take one more?” In my head, I had not a clue what he was up to. As I turn around to ask why, he reaches into his pocket and gets down on one knee. I completey lost it. I scram, cried, and jumped for joy. He was so beautifully nervous (hence the ski googles he forgot to take off)! I will never be able to describe that moment in words. It was the absolute sweetest!
Just when I thought we were taking a picture….
I was wrong!!
YES YES YES!!
I think he deserved a smooch :)
(Oh, and I forgot to mention falling halfway down the mountain because I was so emotional. He of course stopped and helped me up ever step of the way, love him!)
