Sarah and Jonathan
How We Met
Jonathan saw me in a photo about 6 months before we met. He asked our mutual friends about me but had no success in getting any of them to connect us. As the months passed his curiosity wouldn’t subside, so he reached out to me directly asking for a date. Much to his surprise, I accepted! At the time I was living in Orange County and he was in Kings Canyon, so he drove 6 hours to take me to coffee…and the rest is history. We spent the next year and a half driving back and forth, 6 hours each way, just to get a short weekend together. It didn’t take long until we knew we wanted to be together forever.
How He Asked
I had just gotten back from a trip to China and Jonathan had asked that I come up to spend part of the weekend and into the weekend with him and some friends visiting from Northern Ireland. We spent Thursday hiking in Yosemite, Friday relaxing in Kings Canyon and Saturday adventuring in Sequoia. We ended Saturday by hiking to Buena Vista Point to watch the sunset. Just before sunset, our friends visiting from Ireland asked to take some photos of us, which came at no surprise to me because they are professional photographers and had been doing this all weekend. We jumped on top of a rock and I faced one way while Jonathan faced the other.
When I turned around, Jonathan was on one knee and asked me to be his wife.
There are no words for the joy I felt in that moment and continue to feel, knowing I get to be his life partner.
