Sarah and Blake
How We Met
Blake and I met on the last day of school at his end of the year pool party. I was freshman and he was a junior in high school. I had no idea who he was at the time, but a mutual friend asked me to tag along so I thought why not! Truth be told, my main motivation for going was because my crush at the time was going to be there (Shhh!). As the party went on Blake and I got to know each other more and he asked for my number before I left. That was over eight years ago, and the rest is history as they say! He is my high school sweetheart and I still pinch myself that I found the love of my life when I was 15 to share so many amazing milestones with.
How He Asked
I wish I could relive this day over and over again! It all started with my friend coming over to “take me out to lunch”. She brought up a video on my TV and there was Blake. He was talking about our relationship and how much he loved me and the moment he knew I was the one. It ended with him telling me to get ready because my friend Cassie was about to drive me somewhere. After a few hours of driving, we turned off the freeway and I see a sign for Sedona. I had never been before and I always bugged Blake about going, so I was beyond excited to say the least. We pull into a park and I see my little sister holding a board with pictures on it.
As I walk up she hands me a letter and tells me to read it. After I finish reading this letter from Blake, I look up and see both of our families ahead of me.
Blake had created seven stops along a walking path to represent the seven years we had been together.
At each stop there were different family members and they each had letters written by Blake and pictures of us from the past seven years.
The last stop was the most memorable.
As I came around the corner I see an Air Force uniform poking through the trees.
It was my brother. He is stationed across the country and I hadn’t seen him in months. I had always dreamed my family would be able to experience this moment with me, but having my brother there to walk me to my future husband is something I will never be able to describe.
And there he was. In the middle of a field with the Sedona red rock behind him, Blake was waiting for me.
