Sara and Rick
How We Met
Rick and I met two and a half years ago at a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club. He started a music program there almost 10 years ago, and the kids were performing at the Ritz-Carlton where I was an event concierge. We had an amazing conversation and saw each other almost every day after that.
How He Asked
A couple of weeks ago Rick suggested we eat at out favorite Mexican restaurant for Hanukkah. This did not raise any red flags since we go there whenever we can, and the night we planned on going was a Monday. We get to the restaurant and sit at a private booth. Eat our usual meals and enjoy each others company. After we had finished eating, Rick got down on one knee and told me that I am his best friend and soul mate, and then asked me if I would marry him. I was crying so I didn’t realize that he had arranged for my good friend Thuy who is a professional photographer to capture the moment. After our photo session and some celebratory margarita’s, we decided to go to my parents house to share the news. Rick said that he spoke with them beforehand, but they did not know when he was going to pop the question. My friend Thuy said she could come along to take some more photos with them. When we got to their house, all of our closest friends and family were there to surprise me and celebrate our engagement with us. The whole thing was extraordinary, and the fact that Rick orchestrated everything perfectly just made me feel so special and truly loved. We now have professional photos of the whole evening; it is still unbelievable to me. I have pinched myself every day since. I feel like the luckiest woman in the world, I can not wait to marry my best friend!
