Ryan and Allison's Dog Tag Proposal
How we met: Ryan and I met back in college through friends but never dated until we met for drinks at The Brick a couple of years’ ago. When we met at the Brick restaurant in Avondale, the hostess sat us in a booth in the bar area a few booths away from the back. We had drinks and talked about our lives and began to fall in love with each other.
How he asked: Time went by and Ryan decided to propose. He purchased a ring a couple of weeks before a planned trip to Chicago and the ring was sized and available for pick up earlier than he expected. Rather than waiting for the trip (since he knew he was bad at keeping surprises), he decided to propose earlier than originally planned.
While I was at work, he had picked up the ring and stopped by Petsmart and had a dog tag engraved with “Will you marry me?” on one side and the day’s date “4-12-13” on the other. I had come home from work to be greeted by our beagle, Junebug at the door wearing the tag. I didn’t see it at first and he said that Junebug had something to tell me. I looked down and was in shock once I read the tag.
Ryan was then on his knees with the ring and I said “of course!”. He had a bottle of champagne to celebrate. After calling our loved ones with the good news, we decided to go have dinner at the very same restaurant The Brick where we had met for drinks when we started dating.
We went to the hostess to request a table and she sat us coincidentally in the exact same booth where we had drinks on our first date. It added such the perfect end to a wonderful night and we knew we would have to have photos taken during our engagement session in the same booth as well.
