Resa and Grant
How We Met
Grant and I met in college our freshmen year at a party. I thought he was so cute. We were both shy to talk to each other. One of his guy friends ended up pushing him toward me so we could dance together. Afterwards, Grant found me outside helping a guy who had a little too much to drink with some water. It turns out, the guy was his friend. We then exchanged numbers and shortly after meeting, we met for lunch. We dated for a few months in college. Fast forward 5 years later, Grant saw me again. I was in my first year of graduate school and was walking toward my internship. Grant was on his way to work and he saw me get off my bus. A week later, he messaged me on Facebook. We decided to meet up for lunch the following week. I knew as I walked toward him that this time was going to be much different. We’ve been inseparable ever since. This May, we will be celebrating 4 years together.
How He Asked
Shelby who is the owner of Something Minted Photography has been our preferred photographer the last 4 years. Prior to our snowy adventure shoot, I spoke with Shelby about how I would love some photos in the snow with our sweet Coonhound pup, Delilah. Of course, she loved the idea! She suggested Crystal Mountain and we were excited since we had never been. We decided on January 15, 2017. To my surprise, Grant and Shelby had talked about making this session turn into his secret proposal. The session started out like it always does. We had time to catch up with Shelby, and we took couple portraits and photos with our pup. We then trekked our way in 3 feet of snow to this magical spot. When we were about to take more photos, Grant mentioned he wanted to put his coat back on (the ring box was in his coat pocket the entire time). Shelby did a good job at distracting me. When Grant returned he looked at me and said, “Okay for this next pose, I think you should stand here, and I’ll do something like…”, and he got down on one knee.
I instantly started to cry. I honestly don’t remember if I nodded yes or just kissed him right after he asked. After he placed the ring on my finger, we enjoyed a long embrace and I cried a little more with happy tears. It really was a special day. I can’t wait to marry my best friend!
