How We Met
I became a host a Chili’s in Bangor, Maine on March 9, 2014. On March 11th, I was standing at the host stand and this handsome guy (a server at Chili’s) came up on the opposite side and gave me the biggest smile ever. It was then that he introduced himself and became my biggest crush ever. We started dating on June 19, 2014 and will be happily married on September 29, 2017!
How He Asked
Cal and I have been together for almost three years, and we are loving life. We go to North Conway, NH every year in October to look at the foliage and to just have the weekend to ourselves to relax. I’m in Nursing school, and had an upcoming exam, meaning I would also have to study during that weekend. On October 15th, we went hiking, visited The Lost River and went through all of these caves and had a great morning! We had pizza to-go in our hotel room when we returned for a late lunch, and I told Cal that I should probably study a little before going out shopping that night. We stayed at the Fox Ridge Resort, and on the front lawn, there is a little disc golf course – Cal LOVES playing disc golf. So when I told him I needed to study, he happily let me because he had really wanted to play a round.
So off he went to the front lawn while I stayed in the room and studied. About forty-five minutes later, Cal called me and says that the view and colors are so pretty where he is, and that I should meet him. He said that if I go past the shuffleboard court, he was right down the hill from there. I happily left my studying to go meet him.The only problem was, I had no idea what a shuffleboard court was, or what it looked like. I went searching around the lawn of the hotel, looking for something that I thought would be a shuffleboard court. The poor guy had to stand in silence with all of his nerves, waiting to propose to me for about twenty minutes until I had to call him to give me directions.
Finally, I had found it. I went past the shuffle board court, and went down this steep hill in order to get to Cal. It wasn’t until I was halfway down the hill that I saw him waiting in front of a tree for me further away. I got to about a couple of feet in front of him when I stopped right in my tracks – our song was playing. I smiled and asked what was going o n, and he just gave me a big hug, told me that I’m his best friend and the most beautiful girl in the world, and he proposed to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better moment or a better guy to be engaged to. We are getting married September 29, 2017!
