Rebecca and Trae's Skydiving Proposal
How we met: Rebecca and I have known each other for many years. We’d run into each other from time to time at the local sports bar or around town and always got along great, but never dated. We were always in other relationships or would even go months without running into each other, but every time we did something just clicked and we had a great time. We lost touch for a couples of years, then one night while grabbing dinner and drinks with a buddy, she and her mom walked in. We said hi, they sat and ate and everything was just as it always was. My friend and I decided to head out to a club for the night and at about that time, Rebecca and her mom were heading home. They stopped over to say goodbye and without really thinking much about it I asked Rebecca if she was interested in going with us. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting her to say yes. I was just being friendly figuring she would kindly decline and we’d see each other next time. I think my jaw dropped when she said, “Yeah, come pick me up at my house.” We went out, had a great night and have been inseparable ever since.
How he asked: Flash forward four years. She always knew that I wanted to skydive, so for Christmas last year she gave me a certificate to jump. We had a busy year but I knew it was about time, so I got the ring and scheduled the jump. I secured the ring in a sturdy ankle wallet and tucked it under my sock. When we got to the airfield, I informed the photographer what was going down and she helped get everything in order. Only a couple of people knew what was going on, but when I jumped, they arranged to bring her to the landing area so she could be there when I landed and “take pictures”.
When I hit the ground (not so gracefully) I dropped to one knee. Needless to say, she was a bit surprised. And that’s how I took the plunge.
