Rebecca and Sam's Mid-Flight Proposal
How He Asked
Sam and I were flying to California from Boston on American Airlines for Thanksgiving on Saturday morning. While I was in line for coffee, Sam took our carry on bags and sat at the gate. Unbeknownst to me, he saw the pilot of our plane at the gate and went to speak to him about his intent to propose during the flight. The pilot took down Sam’s information and told Sam he would plan an appropriate time during the flight as well as discuss the plan with the flight crew. Mid flight (over Iowa), a flight attendant tapped on Sam’s shoulder and discreetly let him know it was time for him to propose! He got up from his seat and acted like he was walking to the front of the plane to go to the restroom. As soon as the flight crew got the go-ahead from the cockpit, a flight attendant said over the PA system: We have a special mid-flight announcement to make, there is a young man up here who has an important question to ask someone. At that point, the flight attendant handed the phone over to Sam and he proposed over the PA system, I nodded my head “yes!” and he walked back to our row, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so surprised and shocked and it was the best flight and best day. The crew and pilots were exceptional, treated us to champagne on the flight and were so excited to be a part of our big day!
