Randy and Tonya

How We Met

Tonya and I first met when I was 18 years old. We worked together at a small telemarketing firm. I was always drawn to her as a person and had a huge crush on her. I used to fold her paper flowers (corny haha) and she loved them.

Well I had moved on to college and years had passed. We reconnected about 12 years later. We quickly ignited a spark between us and the rest is history.

How He Asked

I chose to ask her to marry me on Sunday, Aug 6th. This particular day held a very special meaning to the both of us. I joined an annual vocal competition in Franklin, PA in the summer of 2014. Tonya was in the audience that very first night and continued to be one of my biggest supporters throughout the years of competition. Finally, in the summer of 2016 I had won the competition. It was such a special moment of the both of us as she had always been such a strong foundation for me and more encouraging than anyone. She was truly my #1 fan.

As the previous years champion, I was given the opportunity to come back the following year and perform during the vote count for the finals. The final song I choose to sing was in tribute to the most beautiful, funny, caring and compassionate woman this man could have ever asked for. I sang the song “Marry Me” by Train to a crowd of over 1,300 people before I made my way through to Tonya to get down on one knee. I had a video crew film the entire event (YouTube link was attached) to capture this special day.
