Radha and Akash
How We Met
My lovely fiancee, Radha and I, met through mutual friends in March of 2016. I live in New Jersey, and she lives in Silvassa India. We exchanged e-mails and then started chatting on whatsapp and through e-mail. Slowly, I began to realize what an amazing girl Radha was and I began to develop feelings for her. It wasn’t until September of 2016, that my job took me to India, where I was able to meet Radha for the first time and spend a few weeks with her. Needless to say, it was absolutely amazing. I was so sad when I had to go back to NJ and missed her so very much. We continued talking through Skype and whatsapp while I was gone.
How He Asked
I went back to India in February of 2017. It wasn’t decided, but, I was hoping to propose to Radha during this trip. I had spend much more time speaking with her and Skype chatting with her since my last visit. She was staying with us, in our factory in Gujarat. We invited her family over and took them to lunch, where we declared our engagement and formally invited her to join our family. However, I still wanted to do the proposal the way I had in my head. So, I worked with her brother, and had him get her back home to Silvassa- so I could plan the proposal. I went to drop her at the train station, then, acted as if I was staying in Ahmedadbad, where, in reality- I took a flight to Mumbai, to Sun N’ Sands hotel, where I was planning the proposal. I spent the next few days getting things set up and the day before the proposal, I picked up the ring from the designer. She thought she was coming to Mumbai to celebrate her friends birthday and possible engagement. Little did she know, she was in for a surprise. Her brother brought her to the hotel, under the excuse that she needed a place to change into her nice dress. He then said, “Let’s walk to the beach- it looks very pretty.” He walked towards the beach and then led her to the area where I was hiding. I got up from where I was hiding and then said, “Honey”- the look of surprise on her face was priceless- a moment that I’ll never forget. I walked her down the red carpet, to a heart shaped flower that was set up- sang her one line of a song called Amazed by Lonestar, told her how much I love her and then got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. And what would you know, she said yes :-)
