Rachel and Jordan
How We Met
Jordan and I met on the first day of orientation at Butler University during a lunch break on the lawn. We made awkward eye contact and agreed to eat lunch with one another, and it was history ever since. Throughout college, we were best friends and it wasn’t until after we graduated we realized that we might be more than just friends. He moved to Chicago after graduation, and once I finished graduate school a year late, I moved to Chicago as well where our love story officially began!
How He Asked
One of our biggest passions is our love for travel and adventure, so it was only appropriate that Jordan proposed on our summer trip to Alaska in July 2017. We were planning most of the trip together, but as we were packing before our trip, Jordan mentioned he planned something for the first night of our trip. He wouldn’t tell me much of anything, so I went along with it (which is hard for the girl who loves to know the plan!). Our first day in Alaska, we got into the car and I was told to navigate us to the destinations plugged into the phone. After about an hour of driving, we arrived at a restaurant at the top of a ski resort near the Chugach Mountains where we had dinner. Once dinner, was over, we headed outside to take in the view.
As I was turning around to go, he stopped me and told me to wait. Little did I know, there was a photographer directly behind us waiting to capture the moment! That’s when Jordan got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife and forever travel partner!
It also happened to be raining all day, so we ended up wearing our matching rain jackets and hiking boots, but I couldn’t imagine it any other way! Our photographer stuck around and took some engagement photos for us as well. We are so excited for our adventure of marriage and seeing the world together!
