How We Met
I met my beautiful bride-to-be at Bank of the West as we both worked there as tellers. We worked together for almost two years, giving us ample opportunity to build a great friendship. Toward the end of us working together, we began to start having romantic feelings for one another. I took her out to eat and we went to the “top of the world” (just to the top of a hill overlooking the entire east Bay Area to SF), and the rest was history.
How He Asked
06.12.2016: How I asked my best friend and love to marry me: As we were both graduating from CSUEB (her with her MS and me with my BS), we decided to have a joint graduation party at one of our favorite restaurants: Chef’s Experience China Bistro in Hayward, CA. We had both planned to have slideshows to watch with our guests, but I included a little surprise at the end of her slideshow. I started out with a short congratulatory message commending her for earning her master’s degree, shortly lamented over how far we’ve come individually and as a couple, and left a hanger in there by letting her know I had a question to ask her BUT that first we’d take a little trip down memory lane with a slideshow that showcased some of our best moments over the last 4 to 5 years. Knowing that she was sad that her father couldn’t make it to this celebration due to his father (her grandpa) passing away just days before in the Philippines, I wanted to include him somehow in this proposal and celebration. So, I recorded a FaceTime encounter I had with him which consisted of me asking for his permission to take his daughter’s hand in marriage. At the end of the FaceTime video with her father’s approval, I said a few words in-person eventually leading up to the big moment.
