Rachel and Peter
How We Met
Peter and I first met our sophomore year of college at the University of Tampa. He was good friends with my roommate Lauren, and one night, Lauren told him to come over to our room to hang out. From the first time we spoke, I thought there was something so interesting about him. We started hanging out a little more, and a few weeks later, Peter kissed me for the first time. The first thing I told him after he kissed me was “I like you,” and he told me “I like you, too.” Then, he left and I didn’t hear from him for 3 days…
Luckily 3 days later, Lauren tricked Peter and I into both going for lunch at the same time in the caf, and she sat us both down to talk. He apologized for not getting back in touch, and told me he wanted to take things slow. So for the next month, we continued to be just friends, with feelings secretly growing for one another…
On October 19th, 2012, Peter asked me to be his girlfriend. I was so happy, of course I said yes! From that time on, we were never apart. We spent the next three years getting to know each other, our families, and friends from back home. I knew that he was the one for me
How He Asked
August 15, 2015 came around. Peter brought me for lunch at a restaurant near school that was right next to Plant Park where we used to go out and talk when we first started dating. After lunch, we went to the park. He told me he wanted for go for a walk down by the river. On our way down there, Peter was talking to me about how happy he is with where we are in our relationship and reminding me of different memories we have made down by that river. He led me over to a small portion of the park on the river and asked if I wanted to take a picture. We did, and then he reminded me that was the first place we took a picture together when we first started dating, only he told me this time, something was going to be a little different…. And then, right there where we took our first picture together, he got down on one knee and proposed! I started to cry, and of course I said yes!
