Moya and David's Paris Proposal
How we met: We met on Valentine’s Day (yes, it’s true!) during a networking event in Beijing in 2009. At the time, David was studying Chinese language at a university, and Moya just finishing up her Master’s degree. We were both there to make new friends and practice speaking our respective 2nd languages. David gave his business card to Moya, and hoped that she would contact him later. Luckily, a few days later Moya texted David and they arranged to meetup and get to know each other a little more. We started dating from that time forward.
How he asked: In October 2013 we were guests at a friend’s wedding in London, and figured that it’d be fun to spend some time afterwards in Paris since neither of us had ever been there. A few months prior while visiting David’s family in the USA, David arranged to get his grandmother’s engagement ring. One afternoon while in Paris, David told Moya that they should dress up a little because they were going to go to a fancy restaurant for dinner after going to see the Eiffel Tower. We took the subway to the Trocadero subway station to get some photos of the Eiffel Tower. Then David led Moya down to the Pont de Bir-Hakeim bridge, which was a little difficult for Moya because she was wearing high heels. We stopped in the middle of the bridge near a seating area and enjoyed the view of the Eiffel Tower for a while. A few minutes later, David got down on one knee and popped the question, with the beautiful Eiffel Tower in the background. She said yes!”
