Olivia and Andrew
How We Met
We met in highschool at a friday night football game. As Andrew says in the video, I was best friends with one of his friends and right when I met him I knew he was something special. We went on our first date to Sunset Slush, and talked for hours. From then on it was Proms, more dates, family gatherings, and now we are getting married!! The past six and a half years, Andrew has been my best friend, confidant, cheerleader, and leader. He has so graciously led our relationship from day one in a way so glorifying to the Lord. I can not wait to marry him!!
How He Asked
For my birthday Andrew got me a tour of Raleigh in a small plane. Andrew loves giving gifts and has always been so good at it, so this wasn’t out of the ordinary; not to mention the pilot was Andrew’s neighbor and dear family friend. Andrew’s brother is a professional videographer and Andrew knew he wanted Bryce to video the whole thing, but didn’t know how to go about that without me knowing what was going on. So about two weeks before our plane ride, Andrew’s brother asked if he could come along on our ride to get some footage for his business. He said he was going to get it on a helicopter ride he had gone on, but they wouldn’t allow him due to copyright issues. I totally bought it. So Andrew, Bryce, and I headed to the airport on Saturday, December 5th. While we were flying around I was oblivious to everything going on; I was just taking in the gorgeous scenery. We flew over a polo field which was so cool for me because my dad is an avid polo player! I thought, How cool to see a polo field from the air, my dad would be so jealous!” Then the pilot asked what was in the middle of the field, and I casually responded “Marry me?”. It didn’t hit me, but then I kept repeating marry me and looked over at Andrew in shock! He pulled out his Bible and began to read, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, he then pulled out the ring and asked me to spend forever with him. We laughed and cried while flying back to the airport and when we landed I was surprised by my whole family, his whole family, and Nancy Ray, who is both a photographer and one of my closest friends. She photographed the sweet moments seeing our families for the first time and then we headed to celebrate as a family!
