Noelle and Drew
How We Met
Drew and I met in July of 2013 on Match. We chatted for a few weeks & then Drew asked me out for drinks, so we had our first date in August & it was the best first date ever! We ended up hanging out & chatting about anything & everything for almost 4 hours.
From there we continued to date casually into the fall, where things started to get a little more serious. By the following summer we both knew that we had something special & that this could be the person we spend forever with.
Over the next two years we would experience everything we could together & traveling soon became our thing as we both enjoyed exploring new cities!
How He Asked
Since traveling was our thing, we decided in the fall of 2015 that we wanted to to visit Peru to see Machu Picchu & explore the Amazon. I did a ton of research & the tickets were soon booked, little did I know that this was the moment Drew knew he wanted to pop the question. I was starting to get a little anxious & would hint at marriage anytime I got a chance, we had talked about it many times & Drew would always respond with I have a plan – which I didn’t believe at all. May finally came & we were soon on our way to Lima, Puerto Maldonado & Cusco.
I had a feeling it could happen on this trip but was trying not to get my hopes up as I knew it was a big trip & wasn’t sure if Drew would bring a ring all that way. After the first few amazing days of our trip, I decided that it probably wasn’t going to happen, Drew didn’t seem as if he was anxious about holding a ring or overprotective of any of our belongings. I brushed it off & knew that we had another trip to NYC planned later in the summer. We had planned to hike the Inca Trail on Wednesday & we had no idea what we were in for!
As we hiked up & down all day, the ring & engagement were the furthest thing from my mind. The next day we got up super early to see Machu Picchu at sunrise, it was the most glorious & breathtaking thing either of us had ever seen. After our tour we had decided to meet our friend Tich at the sundial to take some professional grade photos (we met on the trek & he did photography on the side – again, Drew had set up a meeting time with him to snap some photos of the engagement the day before).
We finally were all up at the sun dial (after a bit of trying to track the other one down) waiting & waiting to get the perfect moment to take a photo, I stepped over to the side since there were a ton of people & I was starting to get a bit impatient as it’s a one way & one the security guard kept staring at me. I knew we were going to get yelled at for standing in the way of others! Finally the perfect moment happened & Drew grabbed me so we could get our photo taken but then he stepped away! A very impatient me asked him what he was doing & at that moment he got down on one knee & asked me to start next chapter in our lives together!
At that moment I felt like we were the only two people at the top of one of the most beautiful places in the clouds.
