Nicolette and Trevor

Wedding Proposal Ideas in Shadow Mountain Lake, Granby, Colorado

How He Asked

So here’s what happened: Trevor had a full day of surprised planned for my birthday up in the mountains. We woke up, went snowmobiling (so freaking cool) and went out to lunch. While we were eating, he kept talking about a walk that he wanted to take around Shadow Mountain Lake. I’m thinking to myself, “it’s 5 degrees out, can’t we just skip the dang walk?!” But he insisted, so we got some coffee and head off. The platform he wanted to take me to was covered in snow so we walked to this little alcove that blocks the wind. All of the sudden we were in our own little bubble. Trevor pulled me into a hug and all I could hear was his heart beating. Fast. I looked up at him and he said he has one more thing for me and he pulls something out of his jacket pocket. He got down on his knee and immediately made me the happiest girl in the world.

Nicolette's Proposal in Shadow Mountain Lake, Granby, Colorado

He said the sweetest things but I already knew I’d say yes before a word came out of his mouth. After I said yes, we kissed and cried and celebrated and walked back up to the main road where we were met by two of our closest friends who were serving as sneaky photographers. We took some more pictures and then headed back to the car (remember it’s still 5 degrees out). Next, Trevor and I drove out to the hot sulfur springs and got a chance to spend time just the two of us. We talked about what being engaged meant to us and what we wanted the next season of life to look like.

Then, it was time to go back to the cabin we were staying at, pack up our bags, and head back down the mountain. As we pull into the driveway, I see a little chalkboard sign that says “Congrats T+N” and there are tons of cars parked in the drive. We walk in to the cabin to be greeted by 30 of our closest family and friends. I’ll never forget the feeling of walking through those doors. It turns out my roommates and my (now) fiancé had been planning this for weeks without me knowing! All I know is that I got to spend the weekend with some of my favorite people celebrating that I get to spend the rest of my life with the man of my dreams. And I couldn’t be happier!
