Sarah and Nick

how we met

Four years ago we were both out with friends bowling, and we were put in the lane next to each other. Joking around as I walk past, Nick told me that he loved me. I laughed and responded with “I love you too?” We then began talking and Nick asked me if he could take me on a date. When he came to pick me up, we found out that we had actually grown up down the road from one another and never knew because we both lived on the edge of different towns, so we went to different schools. A year later we moved in together into an apartment! Nearly four years later we are engaged, with a pet cat, and are buying a house together!

how he asked

Last fall we had entered a photo scavenger hunt that a friend of ours who is an amazing photographer had posted for our town festival. Nick planned the entire engagement that day. This year when the festival was going on, Nick had the same photographer plan the photo scavenger hunt, that in reality wasn’t a contest at all. Being the competitive person I am, I instantly was up for the challenge, and to my satisfaction, I ended up winning again, with no idea at all that this had been rigged. Over the weekend we did the photoshoot. We started at my favorite coffee shop, then moved downtown where Nick and I moved to, and are both in love with. We ended the day at my childhood home that I have always had a special place in my heart for. I have brought up doing some sort of photoshoot, or even planning the actual wedding there. Halfway through the last part of our session, the photographer asked Nick if he could fix his shoelace for the next photo. As I stood there with no idea what was really going on behind me, she told me that she changed her mind and she wanted me to face him. When I turned around, he was down on one knee and he popped the question! Our parents and families had “Come to watch the shoot”, so they were all there to share the moment with us. I had been waiting for this moment for so long, and have dreamed about it since I was a child. It was so meaningful, and everything I ever could have dreamed of!
