Nicholas and Brooke
How We Met
Our fairy tale started in August 2009 when Nick and I met through our mutual friend, Kristen. She invited me to play putt-putt golf with her brother and their friend who just so happened to be Nick. We were instantly friends, Friendship turned into a relationship when Nick asked me out through a text message on November 17th, 2009. I liked him so much and was completely head over heels and he felt the same way. We have been going strong since through the good and bad. He is truly my best friend and love of my life!
How He Asked
October 27th, 2018 started out just like any Saturday. Nick had said his co-worker had given him tickets to an event at Bellingrath Gardens called Boo at Bellingrath. Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays so I love anything Halloween related. I was, of course, excited for this event, plus I love Bellingrath Gardens very much. I had even hinted at getting engaged there, but I, of course, had no idea what he was planning and had been planning for years! We arrived at the gardens with my Mom, Stepdad, and two of my little brothers. We walked around and let my brothers trick or treat, and we also looked at the gardens. They had food trucks there as well, and I am always hungry so I suggested that we get something to eat.
Nick played it cool but was secretly getting very anxious because the photographer he had hired for the day was due to arrive soon. After we ate, we went to the river and dock by the gardens. That is when Nick said he had to go to the front of the gardens to get some water. I was so confused but decided to just watch the water and take some pictures. After about ten minutes, Nick called me to say he would be heading my way again. My mom and stepdad never even looked nervous when they secretly knew what was about to happen! Nick appeared out of what seemed like thin air, and he took my hand. He led me by the water and told me he had something to talk to me about. I was VERY nervous because suddenly my brain connected to what was happening.
That is when Nick told me that he had always loved me for 9 years, and he never wanted to live his life without me by his side. He then got down on one knee and asked me by my full name to be his wife and to marry him! He was so shocked that I could not even talk, but I screamed yes and he put the ring on my finger. That is when the photographer appeared and handed me a plaque. The plaque mapped out the stars that were in the sky the night he asked me to be his girlfriend (11/17/2009).
Under the stars, it says one of my favorite quotes from Casablanca and “Will you marry me?”. I was so ecstatic, and I could not believe what had just happened. I am the luckiest girl in the world because I am marrying my best friend! We cannot wait to start our journey together next November. Thank you to God, family, and friends for always believing in us. We could not be happier. Forever starts now.
