Nancy and Kevin | Proposal Photoshoot
How we met: We met on my 20th birthday. At the time, my friends wanted to take me somewhere special so somehow we ended up in Tijuana! Upon entering a club, I noticed a guy looking at me. We walk up to each other, introduce ourselves, and were inseparable the rest of the night. We made plans to meet at the beach the next day in our hometown of San Diego but he never showed. He called later on in the day and embarrassingly admitted that he didn’t own a car (he had recently been stationed in San Diego because he was in the Navy) and couldn’t find a ride. He apologized profusely. We spent the entire night on the phone and went on our official first date a week later! (We are getting married on the 12 year anniversary of that first date!)
How he asked: I’m a Disneyland junkie and we own annual passes. We try to make a visit at least once a month, usually on Sundays. I work as waitress and get off pretty late Saturday. One Sunday, Kevin woke me up early and said we had to get ready to go to Disneyland. I found it strange since he’s never eager to go but he knew exactly what to say to get me up. “We’ll grab some shabu before”. Food is my weakness!
After lunch, I notice that he wasn’t headed towards Disneyland and we end up at a hair salon. I questioned him and he said he wanted to surprise me with a photo session for our anniversary because we did one for our 10 year anniversary. I thought it was weird since I wasn’t dressed nicely or anything. He told me had secretly packed my favorite dress and some shoes. After hair, he took me for make up, and then to get my nails and toes done. We end up at a park and I see Kimle in the parking lot! I was so excited to see her because I love her photos.
A few minutes into our “session”, he drops to his knee and pulls out the most beautiful ring ever! I barely remember what he said but I remember saying “thank you” many times through my tears! It’s funny but I never thought of ever getting married. I never realized how important it was until that moment. I’m so grateful that I have photos of that day and the fact that he made sure I looked my best for it! I’m a very lucky girl!
