Morgan and Scott
How We Met: Being the dog lovers that we are, Scott and I met at a dog park. We had seen each other several times there before and dog owners like to chat about how wonderful their babies are. Scott asked for my number and we began to talk regularly over text. One day he invited me to meet him at a nearby park. This being completely out of my comfort zone, I agreed and off I went.
I took my labradoodle Ryder with me to help break the ice. When I arrived at our meeting spot, there he stood in the snow on a cold February evening at dusk with a box of chocolates in his hand. It being the day before valentines day, he asked me to be his date and of course I agreed. How could I pass up such a romantic gesture, it was like something out of a movie.
We walked in the snow for at least an hour and I knew from that moment on he was more than just another someone, he was someone extremely special. When he picked me up the following evening with a rose it was over for me, and the rest is history.
How He Asked: On a cold morning in March, Scott and I woke up to two feet of snow on the ground. This was a record snow for Lexington, Ky in the month of March. Scott was called off of work and I intended to spend my day cuddled on the couch with our pups watching movies and drinking coffee, but I had it all wrong, Scott had a little something different in mind.
He had been a little giddy and doing unusual things and running in and out of the house all morning to “run errands.” When he returned home he told me to get dressed up nice that we were going to dinner. At this point, its about 11 o’clock in the morning. I knew it was the third red flag of the day, but I went with it.
We headed off across town on the extremely dangerous un-plowed roads. We sat down for lunch at a local restaurant and Scott ordered a salad…he never orders a salad. He was grinning ear to ear and couldn’t even look me in the eye. Everything I said he would start laughing. I was texting my best friend Gina through the whole thing explaining how odd he was acting and complaining about being out in the weather when the entire town was basicaly deserted.
She of course knew the entire time and was just playing along. We left lunch and headed down town. We pulled up outside of a historic Gratz park in downtown Lexington. I pretty much knew at this point that he was about to pop the question. My palms were sweating and the butterflies were officially set in. He took my hand as he opened my door and said, “Lets take a walk in the park like we did on the day we met.”
By this point, I basically go weak in the knees. I’m screaming on the inside. My head was immediately rushed with 100 emotions simultaneously. The moment I had been dreaming of my entire life was about to come true and Scott was doing an absolutely fabulous job of making this moment so special. We treked through the two feet of snow for about 10 minutes until he could gain the courage to ask me.
The man of my dreams was down on one knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. The location was idyllic, the moment was magical, the words were beautiful and Scott being the romantic that he is hired a photographer to capture this amazing moment. Of course I said yes!
It couldn’t have been any better!
