Morgan and Nathan

How We Met

Nathan and I met originally when I was just 16 years old! I was working as a hostess at a local chicken restaurant called Roosters and his older sister worked there with me. Nate would come in every once in awhile to visit his sister and I would always make sure I said hello to him. He is 8 years older than me so at just 16 years old, it was nothing more than a crush I had on this 24-year-old! It wasn’t until years later that I was now a senior in college and Nate had become a police officer. We ended up seeing each other downtown often because coincidentally the same bars I went to on the weekends, he also worked outside of to keep them safe!

Morgan and Nathan's Engagement in Telluride, Colorado

Luckily for me, one of my classes was called “Crime and Media” and we were required to interview a law enforcement officer… this was the perfect opportunity for me to see my long time crush and spend alone time with him! He agreed to interview and asked if it involved FOOD? I was shocked and so excited about his response that we agreed to meet that following weekend. Nate and I met at a local restaurant, forgot about the interview for my class completely, and talked from 4pm-midnight. That same night before leaving, he told me he loved me and two weeks after that I MOVED IN WITH HIM! We have not been apart since.

How He Asked

I work for a major airline and with that comes unlimited flight benefits, so naturally, we vacation as often as we can! I have always gone on luxurious vacations or trips to the beach, but when I met Nate, that all changed because he introduced me to the mountains for the first time. I fell in LOVE with them and we’ve been making trips to Utah and Colorado to see and explore ever since. I am extremely close with my family and my sister and brother in law had always wanted to experience the mountains and go on adventures like Nate and I do, so we all planned a trip for August. We flew into Denver and drove an additional 6 hours to Telluride, Colorado. Telluride is a beautiful small town in which the road deadends into the mountain and the scenery looks like something from a painting!

After all of the traveling I thought for sure we were going to take it easy that first night, so I was enjoying myself in the backseat and eating my weight in beef jerky! To my surprise, the moment we got into our cabin and got situated, everyone (but me), jumped up and said “we’re going on a hike!” I couldn’t believe it! I was pretty tired from the car ride and wasn’t feeling well from all the beef jerky I had just consumed, but I didn’t want to be a downer on everyone’s first day of vacation so I put my boots on and we headed out. We were maybe 10 feet up the mountain and I told everyone I felt sick and to go without me. It makes sense now, but at the time I didn’t understand why when I said that everyone yelled at me and told me to get up and keep moving. I pushed through it and we finally made it to the top of the mountain.

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen… the top of the mountain provided us with a beautiful natural waterfall and I immediately ran over to it wanting a picture! I’m asking my sister how to pose my legs for the picture and if I look okay, and all of a sudden I see Nate drop DOWN ON ONE KNEE! He said, “so you wanna get married?” I said, “ARE YOU KIDDING???” And before I could even look at the ring I grabbed it and jumped on him! I’m so happy they all pushed me up the mountain because it was well worth this beautiful addition I have on my ring finger!
