Monica and Ryan
How We Met
We met freshman year of college while we were both commuting on a bus from our neighboring home towns. Before this, we were just acquaintances. We were the only students on this bus at the time so naturally we gravitated toward each other. Neither of us had meal plans on campus so we ended up eating lunch together most days. We got to know each other very well in a short amount of time and loved spending time together. A few months into the semester we started dating and the rest is history!
How He Asked
It was fairly common knowledge among our friends and family that we were going to be getting engaged this summer. Because of this I had been racking my brain to come up with a proposal idea that would be meaningful and surprising for her. In April, I got a message from Monica’s cousin Emily who was getting married at the end of May. She had this awesome proposal idea for me. It was much better than anything I had been coming up with so I agreed to go with it. Here’s what happened: At the end of Emily’s wedding she had everyone lined up to do the flower toss. She counted to three and pretended to throw the bouquet, but instead of throwing them, she went up and handed them to Monica. Meanwhile, I had snuck up behind her and as she was handed the flowers I said her name and she turned around to find me on one knee asking her to marry me. The whole thing was made even more special by the fact that it was also Monica’s 21st birthday that day.
