Molly and Austin
How We Met
Austin and I met in August of 2004, Austin had just moved onto my block which I’d only been living on for six months before his family joined. Austin was 9 and I was 10. Austin loves to tell the story about the day we first met. He says that I was in a white over-sized t-shirt and baller shorts, I was riding down the block in my razor scooter with my friend Haley, where we walked onto Austins front lawn and introduced ourselves.
Austin and I grew up together, between whiffle ball games, basketball shootouts, or racing our bikes and scooters we were always together with all the kids from the block. Austin and I shared each other’s first kiss with one another on New Years Eve 2006.
How He Asked
The day of the proposal my girlfriend had texted me in the morning and asked if I wanted to go get my nails done with her because we had just got back from Las Vegas and had yet to get our nails done since! So I jumped on the offer and we spent the day at the nail salon. After we finished her sister had asked if we wanted to get dinner when she was finished at work, I didn’t think anything of it and we said sure. It was a Friday so I asked Austin what his plans were for the night were and he told me that he and his friend Juan were going to go to our local bar just to hang out and told us to join after dinner. While at dinner my girlfriends and I had a grand old time drinking some good wine and eating some food. Of course, during dinner, I dropped something on my lap and stained my jeans that I was wearing and I asked them if we could swing by my house before heading to the bar to meet up with guys. On our way home, my best friend made a pit stop at rite aid at 8 pm at night to buy shampoo and conditioner, I thought it was weird but I didn’t even question it because she has always been OCD. When we pulled onto my block I realized Madi was not slowing down at my house and I yelled at her because I also needed to use to the restroom badly and I noticed my sisters car out front and even questioned why my sister was at the house. Madi pulled up our front of Austin’s house and I JUMPED out of their car about to rush into the house to go to the bathroom when I notice balloons coming out of a minivan that was in Austin’s driveway, out pop Austin in a tux, he told me to “come here” and I replied with “what??” At that moment I saw a bunch of flashes go off all around us and I realized what was going on. Austin got down on one knee at the same location where he had first met me when we only 9 and 10 years old and said, “Molly I’ve thought about this day since I was nine years old, now fourteen years later it’s becoming a reality, Molly Will You Marry Me?” Instant tears started to run down my face as I said yes to Austin and went in for a huge hug and kiss. When I finally stopped to take a look around, all of our family and friends were there to celebrate. Austin had set up a party for us in his backyard where we danced the night away.
