Michelle and Jesse's Classroom Proposal
How We Met: I met Jesse when I was going to college at James Madison University. It was in the winter of my Senior Year and we met through a mutual friend. We were friends for over a year before we realized that we each shared more than the feelings of friendship. On March 5th, 2011, we realized that we couldn’t be without each other. We have been together ever since.
How He Asked: Friday, February 6, 2015, started off as any normal day. I woke up late for work and was running around trying to get ready. I left like I normally do and Jesse told me “Have a good day!” Throughout the day, it went as normal as any school day was for me (I teach 6th grade). I was in constant contact with him as I normally would be. During the afternoon, I was told that I needed to cover another teacher’s classroom for them to go to a meeting. I was a little upset because I wanted to get things done in my classroom. All of a sudden, my principal called me down to the office to talk about how I was upset about covering! As I was leaving the office, I was handed a dozen cream colored roses and told that there was no note or anything with them. Then, my principal told me to follow her into the auditorium. When she opened the door, I saw about half of my students holding a banner and there was Jesse among them.
When I walked up to him, he got down on one knee and popped the question. All of my students said “CONGRATULATIONS!!!” My students were so excited for us, giving me hugs and fist bumping Jesse. They were all coming up to us individually to say “congratulations!” About half of the teachers in the school were also involved and came up to us as well. I was so happy that I could not stop smiling!
