Allie and Michael
How We Met: When our sisters went to college, they happened to be across the hall in their dorms. Our families met on move-in day, and their moms exclaimed, “Diana” and “Beth” at each other. They had been Baylor Pi Phi pledge sisters years ago! All of the sudden, they were hugging, and our dads looked at each other and knew each other from Baylor as well! Our sisters became very good friends, and I met all of Michael’s family over the next year, except for Michael.
When the older sisters were in Tyler the next summer after working at Pine Cove, they decided to convince the two families to go on vacation to California together. Not only did they make this trip happen, but they suggested to Michael to become my friend and hang out with before the trip.
I had no idea Michael was my age or so cute, until he asked me to be his friend on Facebook. He also asked me if I ever was in Dallas to call him. Later that summer of 2010, I let him know I was in Dallas hanging out with my grandparents and cousins. Michael asked me if I wanted to go to dinner with him, and I was very excited! He picked me up, and we went on the best date of our lives! We had so much fun getting to know each other and making each other laugh, it was perfect. Michael told his friends after their date that I was the one he was going to marry. I told my sister and cousin that he was “the one” as well. You know what they say, when you know, you know.
Our families went to California together, and the two of us just kept flirting. Not long after the trip, Michael asked me to be his girlfriend on August 28th, 2010. He told me that we could handle the long distance relationship for their senior year because we were “all in.”
Since that day, Michael and I have grown in love with each other and accomplished a lot together. We attended Baylor in the Fall of 2011 together, and joined Pi Phi and KOT. We made wonderful friends, and pursued a lot of our passions. We have loved sharing Baylor with their parents, and we have had many dreams come true!
How He Asked: On April 17th, 2015, Michael got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. He took me to one of my favorite spots on Baylor’s campus. There were rose petals all under a gorgeous table he set up for me and the walk way was lined with candles.
The table had a dozen roses, candles, pictures, and a new Bible. Michael read to me out of my new Bible he bought me with my future name on it. Then, he asked me right there, and it was amazing! I said YES, OF COURSE!!
fter, we went to dinner and had an incredible engagement party! Both of our families, grandparents, high school friends, and college friends came to celebrate our engagement! Everyone was so happy, and we had an absolute blast! The whole party was so special! Michael had made sure that everything would be exactly how I would prefer it to be, I felt like a princess. Our fathers and sisters made heart-warming toasts, and the night was one for the books.
At the end of the party, Michael and my parent had another surprise for me. They told me they booked the church, reception, and my favorite wedding band for June 4th, 2016! It was a perfect and dreamy day that I will never forget!
