Meredith and Nathan
How We Met
Nathan and I met through my younger sister. They both were involved in a military program call “CAP” Civil Air Patrol. Every year CAP puts on a ball in the winter. Nathan didn’t have a date so my sister offered for me to go with him. After my sister asked my dad if NAthan could take me, and I agreed to go not knowing who he was, we met the day of the ball. I had no idea what to expect, all I knew is he wanted to fly, loved working on his Jeep, and he’s tall (6’2′). It was a typical blind date, I fell down a few steps breaking my heel, we had the awkward looks at each other during dinner, and to be expected the weird part of saying good bye at my parents front door. But our first slow dance was so easy and romantic. I knew he was something special but I didn’t think he was interested in me. The rest is really history. My sister knew even before we met that we were gonna get married and I didn’t believe her for one second. And she was right!
How He Asked
We love snowboarding! I am on National Ski Patrol so I have to work a few shifts during the week to keep up my hours on the slopes helping people with medical issues. That day/ week, Nathan was up north working on a job site (He’s a commercial builder) He called me around noon and said he was gunna come snowboarding with me. Of course I was excited we hadn’t boarded together yet that season. I didn’t know the exact time he would be there. So, I was in the middle of taking care of a patient and my dad comes in (who is also a patroler) and tells me he would take over my patient and Nathan is waiting for me to go boarding. I thought well I’ll be out there as soon as I’m done with my patient but my dad knew things I didn’t, so he took over my patient and I went boarding with Nathan. I didn’t think anything was odd except I did notice that Nathan was staying behind me but I didn’t thing anything of it. When I got down the hill I saw Nathan had fallen forward and he was having a “hard time breathing”. So I ran to him, trying to calm him down, and he was but smiling at me the same time. He got up and said “Mere?” and then got down on one knee “Will You Marry Me?” I had no idea! I was shocked and surprised but very happy, and of course I said yes!
