Melissa and Alexander
How We Met
We met through a dating application called JSwipe. Melissa at the time lived on Long Island and commuted to the Upper West Side in NYC so our locations paired us together and we became a match. At the time, I spoke with some girls on the application and had to always initiate the conversation, but one morning, I got a message from Melissa, my first thought was that she is a robot – lol. Since that first message, we were talking non-stop until she finally gave me her number and I asked her out on a date. Our first date ended up being at Tao in NYC and we had a great time and had a lot of things in common, we clicked. Both of us could not get enough of one another, we laughed, spoke about ourselves, our family and we both could not wait to hang out again.
How He Asked
It was an ordinary weekend, nothing really planned, except to go shopping with my girlfriend, Melissa and my son Levi. After walking into the Free People Store on 5th Avenue in NYC, a few minutes later, my best friends, from their basement walked out with our song playing, a huge sign “Melissa, Will You Marry Me?” and then I asked in front of everyone in the store.
My fiance always asked, when I propose, not to propose on any holiday or any vacation, we like the element of surprise and originality. After days of thinking of the right proposal, I decided that there could be nothing better than proposing in her favorite store, she would never know! I got in touch with the store manager, who confirmed with corporate I can propose in the store. I had my friends hide in the basement and when we walked in and were shopping, they walked out, played our song, held our sign and I got down on my knee and asked her if she would marry me!
To follow, I had arranged a surprise lunch with all of our closest family members at Wolfgangs Steakhouse!
