Megan and Thomas
How We Met
Thomas and I met when we were in 8th grade through confirmation. He went to Catholic school and I went to public school but attended catechism. We met at a volunteer activity and not long after he was adding me on Facebook. Tom was actually trying to set me up with his friend and asked for my number. I told him, no, but the boy was relentless and he somehow found it anyway. For the next few months, he was trying to be a “wingman” for his friend to set us up. I actually liked his friend, but it didn’t work out between us.
Tom and I still stayed friends throughout the remainder of 8th grade where he continued to try and get me to go out with him. Although I liked talking to him, I continued to turn him down. Eventually July before our freshman year of high school, we decided to actually start talking and a month later on August 1st, 2011 we started dating. We dated throughout all of the high school and continued to while I attend the University of Michigan and he attends the University of Toledo. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s all been worth it!
How He Asked
Thomas asked me to marry him on June 23rd, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. We went down to Tennessee for my family reunion and I asked him to come along with us. We spent the day with my extended family and headed downtown to Nashville with my two older sisters and my parents. After dinner at Hard Rock Cafe we headed to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge to see a view of the city. As we were walking and holding hands, Tom kept asking me to take a photo. We got ready for a photo and my family distracted me by pointing to the clouds behind us. I turned to the side and before I knew it he was down on one knee. I was beyond surprised and so happy to have my family there to witness the exciting moment!
