Megan and Ryan
How We Met
Ryan and I met while we were still in high school in Macon Ga. He hung out with a completely different group of people than me because he went to Private school and I went to Public school. I will be honest, I wasn’t a fan of his when I met him in high school and I don’t think he looked at me twice back then haha. Well if you fast forward 6 yrs our paths crossed again after I had completed college in London England and moved back to Macon to get a job. We started hanging out with mutual friends and we were both on the Macon Ga kickball team “Balls Deep” and “Kickelob Ultra” together and started dating in Sept 2009. We have been inseparable ever since. We bought a house together in Fall of 2010 and the following year I found out I was pregnant with our daughter. We always knew we wanted to get married and be together forever because we are best friends, soul mates and we click with one another. So, he proposed in April of 2011 at our house and we planned the wedding and got married on June 4th, 2011. The wedding was beautiful and small and we were both very happy but deep down Ryan knew that I wanted a huge wedding and a big surprise proposal. So that brings us to 12/16/2017.
How He Asked
After being together for 8 years, married for 6 1/2 and having two children we were at the point where we needed to re-ignite our marriage. With love, we can get so caught up in the day to day grind that we lose sight of one another. Ryan and I decided to take a trip to Chateau Elan winery to have a weekend away where we could just enjoy each others company. Little did I know he had a HUGE surprise planned. We had the trip booked for a few months and in that time he had me design an Anniversary ring to be custom made.
I designed the ring and picked out the diamonds and he told me when it was complete I could see it once but he would be giving it to me as a present. Well, I thought it was going to be my Christmas present. On Saturday 12/16 at Chateau Elan he led me upstairs at the winery where there was a table for two set up with rose petals and champagne. Then he got down on one knee and presented the ring to me and told me how much he loved me and couldn’t wait for our forever to continue.
I was so incredibly surprised that he had planned this and then I saw he had hired Ross Goodman photography to capture the entire moment for us. If was the most romantic thing I have ever been a part of. Even typing this to you now I am crying because it meant so much to me for him to do this.
Chateau Elan has now become our special place and I will never forget this moment. So now I am planning the vow renewal and we have already looked into having it at Chateau Elan!
