How We Met
We met in June 2009. We were thirteen. Kyle friended me on Myspace. We soon found out that we lived a block away from each other and decided to hang out. We became good friends and spent the whole summer together. When September came around, we went to different high schools. We didn’t hang out as much, but we were still friendly.
Fast forward to October 2012. Kyle had texted me on my birthday as he did every year. We began to talk a lot more, especially with the anticipation of hurricane Sandy. When hurricane Sandy hit, we were both out of school for a few days and decided to hang out again. We began to hang out almost every day.
Kyle asked me out on Christmas Day as he said that he did not get everything he wished for and the only thing missing was me. Of course I said yes when he asked me to be his girlfriend.
We fell in love quickly. Year after year came and went. Almost five years later, Kyle proposed and I said yes.
How He Asked
My friend does photography as a side hobby and I asked her to take pictures of me, Kyle, and our one year old dog, Decker. We wanted a fall backdrop, so Avalon Park in Stony Brook, New York was the perfect location. We worked our way up the trail, taking pictures along the way. At the top of the trail was this huge mirrored ball. We took one picture and I said, what other pose should we do? Kyle replied with “how about this one?” I looked at him confused, until he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES!
